New Years Resolutions. Have you made any?
Well this year we decided to counter the cold grey month of January with some positive resolutions, things we WILL do rather than things we won't...so here's our hit list of arts, fashion and culture for the next few months.
We'll let you know how we get on!
1. FILM: Watch American Hustle
Tick! We saw this one last week. A really good watch, great acting, a gripping black comedy and with eye watering costumes! We were lusting over the girls' 70's garments, they both looked super cool, sleek and stylish...
2. FASHION: Visit Isabella Blow Exhibition, Somerset House
This is one of our top resolutions - the exhibition celebrates the life and fashion of this extraordinary icon. Until March 2014.
The exhibition showcases over a hundred pieces from her incredibly rich collection, one of the most important private collections of late 20th Century/early 21st Century British fashion design, now owned by Daphne Guinness. This includes garments from the many designer talents she discovered and launched, such as Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan and Julien Macdonald amongst others. A must see for 2014.
3. ART: Richard Deacon Tate Britain: 5 February – 27 April 2014
The work of this Turner prize winning artist celebrates his innovative use of form as well as his interest in working with a diverse range of materials.
4. THEATRE: As You Like It, The Tobacco Factory, Bristol 13 February - 22 March 2014
A firm yearly favourite on the calendar, Shakespeare at The Tobacco Factory strips back the Baird's work and provides beautiful performances in one of Bristol's best love performance spaces.
That's it for now! We're sure there will be more. What positive resolutions have you made? Tweet us @alicementer. Happy New Year x
